How The Daily Brainstorm Will Rock Your Blog

Today’s the official launch day of The Daily Brainstorm, a blogazine to rock your mind AND your blog. Woohoo!!!

So, what’s a blogazine? Basically, ‘blogazine’ is just a ramped up way of saying “aggregate blog.”

What’s an ‘aggregate blog?’

zzzzzzz, somebody wake me up when this part is over . . .

An aggregate blog is a blog that pulls in feeds from other blogs (like that love-it-or-hate-it Huffington Post).  It’s like a magazine with blogs for pages.

And, in the case of The Daily Brainstorm, those pages are a steamin’ hot mix of top blogs like Zen Habits, ProBlogger, Happiness Project, White Hot Truth, and Write to Done, with a spicy blend of up-and-coming blogs (like this one!) added in to round things out. Right now there are over 40 blogs on board, wih more being added.

Now, it’s pretty easy to see how reading such a wide variety of blogs could rock your mind, but how will reading The Daily Brainstorm rock your blog?

Because it will open up the doors of the internet for you.

There was a great Copyblogger article recently that said, “What we forget is that this little galaxy we’re occupying is only a tiny sliver of the universe. And if we want to expand our audience, we need to start boldly going beyond our safe little corner.”

A lot of us get stuck in our little corner, which we prefer to call our niche, and we rarely venture beyond it. We read the same blogs day-after-day, and pretty soon, we start looking and sounding eerily similar. And we start thinking that our niche is saturated and our audience is small and maybe even shrinking.

The truth is, our audience is huge.

We’re the ones who make it small.

And this is where The Daily Brainstorm comes in. It’s already pulling in feeds from blogs in a variety of niches, and the diversity will increase in the weeks and months ahead. It makes it easy for you to read and visit blogs you’ve never heard of, see how things are done in other corners of the internet, and dip your toe into new communities.

Keep doing that, and your blogging will rock in ways you can’t even imagine now.

I’m ready for a Brainstorm. How about you?

Your turn: Are you ready to step out of your blogging niche? Do you already venture into new internet territory on a regular basis?

Jean, you’ve addressed a very serious problem that we unknowingly allow to stuck up on us. Fortunately, you’ve also presented a solution, so I’ve bookmarked The Daily Brainstorm.

Hi Jake. Yes, we definitely do allow it to come sneaking up. Our own blogs and niches are like houses and towns we seclude ourselves in if we don’t look out.

I’ve been stepping outside of my niche since I started my niche. By doing so, I learned so much about blogging.

I would never know what I know now, if I hadn’t ventured out. Venturing out can always be a positive thing because it is hard to get bored. I’m meeting new people and enjoying learning and sharing.

The Daily Brainstorm sounds awesome! I can’t wait to delve into this site. :)

    Take care!

You’re my heroine, Evelyn. Venturing out is fun and healthy, and I need to do more of it myself. I do go out into a couple other niches regularly but need to start visiting beyond those. Brainstorm, here I come :)

    Hi Jean,

“Are you ready to step out of your blogging niche?”

I don’t know what my blogging niche is!

“Do you already venture into new internet territory on a regular basis?”

Not really, but the idea is very tempting, at one hand to see what’s out there, and at the other to get a wider vision and new ideas.

This is great, I’m in…or out should I say? :)

Hi Preeti. I love all that great reading in one spot too, and it will get better and better in time. The idea/credit belongs to Geri Langlois if I have things straight. Then he got things cooking with Mary Jaksch (A-List Club, Write to Done, Good Life Zen) and from there things have brewed more with the A-List Club. Speaking of which, head over to the comment section of Write to Done if you haven’t been there. Mary and Leo are offering some scholarships!

I’ll send out the guidelines in a newsletter, plus we can talk more via email too :)

Thank you again! I am trying to jump out of what I thought was my niche (frugality, minimalism) to include those who just want to hear about living daily life. In 8 short weeks I have already started heading another direction just for the reasons you stated above, I was getting tired of reading about frugality & minimalism, what else was there to say. So I changed the look and focus of my blog to include just about a little bit of everything (maybe I am too busy & cluttered now, but that is how life is anyway, right)?

Blogging is definitely a grow-as-you-go process, and there’s a lot of mid-stream changing that happens, especially when we start expanding our horizons. That’s all part of the fun :)
