The Best of Virgin Blogger Notes

By Mary Jaksch

Do you know that Virgin Blogger Notes has buried treasures? I spent a lot of time recently reading older posts by Jean Sarauer, as well as by excellent guest posters, like Jered Slusher and others. There are some amazing posts stashed in the basement!

I’d like to bring out the treasures all to enjoy, and am planning to put together an Ebook with the best of Virgin Blogger Notes. It’s a bit of a mission, and so I’ve called for help. I asked our students from the A-List Blogger Club whether anyone would like to give me a hand. Since yesterday I’ve already got over 10 enthusiastic offers of help!

I’m touched that people are so willing to help. Of course I make sure that those who help me also get some benefits too. I’m always happy to mentor those who help me, and I tend to recommend them for special opportunities, or even contract them for paid jobs later on.

Tip: If you want to rise to the top fast, volunteer as an ‘apprentice’ with a successful blogger.

This is the fastest way to get connections that boost your success. I did that with Leo Babauta. I was happy to help out with Write to Done– without any thought of recompense. The outcome 2 years later: 3 blogs with a total of 34,000 subscribers and a six-figure online business! And it all started with a heartfelt offer of help…

You can read my story here: How a Rookie Blogger Became an Accidental Entrpreneur and Created a Six-Figure Online Business in Under 19 Months.

Here is how YOU could help

I would love to know which articles in the Virgin Blogger Notes archives are YOUR favorites.

Please share your favorite VBN posts in the comments!

    Hi Mary,

I would love to help. I was just in the forum this morning and spent time on my morning walk thinking about a few ideas about future posts for VBN. I’ll be responding in the forum as well. Thanks for the invitation.

Also my favorites are under self-help. All beginning bloggers need encouragement and the faith that blogging eventually has many benefits. I especially like the inspiring and motivating aspects that self-help offers virgin bloggers.

    Hi Mary

I signed up to help earlier over at A List forum, so I can have a look through the group including Content, Headlines, List Posts and Voice…if nobody else has selected them. This blog was one of the first that I came across when I started to blog a few months ago and Jean was so unbelievably helpful and encouraging. I would love to do anything that I can to help keep this going.

Great! I’ve started a list on the A-List Blogger forum and have put your name against the categories you’ve chosen. The task is to read through all the posts in ‘your’ category and see which would be suitable for publication in the Ebook.

      Thanks for you help, Rosemary!
I’m really excited about this project :-)

      • Rosemary November 23, 2010 at 9:48 am #

Mary, I have posted my selection over in the A List forum… I actually picked 6 posts (and 3 extra ‘maybe’s’ in case you have the space)as the Content section that I was going through has 24 posts in all and is one of the biggest categories. Let me know if you want me to narrow my selection down further.

  8. Patti Foy November 22, 2010 at 4:05 pm #

Ha, Mary, I just finished volunteering and then Francoise mentioned you posted about all this here too, and here I am. Perfect!

Perfect because I get to have a say: I absolutely loved Jean’s article about the blog post fairy (http://www.virginbloggernotes.com/2010/07/06/how-to-be-your-own-blog-post-fairy/). Such helpful info and almost more than that, a great example of her sparkling writing, from concept to detail. I vote for that one!

Thanks for soliciting our vote. And oh, I see some people have voted for more than one. Hmm, maybe I’ll be back!

    Hi Mary!

I just discovered Virgin Blogger Notes, but I’m planning on turning the archives upside down for info! I just started a blog and I have so many questions; I’m so glad I stumbled over this site. Maybe I’ll be back in a few days with some suggestions for the list!
